Biography / Resume
A protégée of a military family, Carlos Martinez was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1958. He is the youngest of five siblings who proudly nicked named him "Charlie" at birth. At age two, after his father concluded military service, the family relocated to Puerto Rico where they lived for more than 10 years. In the island, he learned the language and costumes of his parent's native land while attending Grammar School there. As a teenager, in 1971, the family returned to the "Windy City" where he attended High School, College and eventually began his real estate career in 1984.
Carlos focuses his real estate practice in Single Family Residences and Two-Four Unit Buildings. However, Carlos is no stranger to and has vast knowledge of commercial, management and development. During his first seven years in the business he mainly listed and managed apartment buildings and mixed used properties. Early in his career, Carlos learned the valuable skill of keeping good tenants happy and how to rid problem tenants diplomatically. That skill later became critical to his success as he later managed his own real estate portfolio, in the years to follow.
Although he reads, speaks and writes Spanish fluently, it was his fluency in English what allowed him to work with all segments of the population and not limit him to working solely with one segment. His serene personality, skilled communications and keen knowledge of the Hispanic Market makes Carlos a well rounded Broker and a favorite "go to" person for Servicers and property owners; especially when faced with challenging scenarios.
Carlos entered the short sales arena 4 years ago and prides himself in working as a professional. By staying in the trenches, he has personally witnessed the devastating toll today's market has taken on individuals and families. He empathizes with the aspirations of today's Buyers and Sellers and understands fully the wants & needs of the players behind the scene. Carlos is active in the current market providing real estate services while assisting families to relocate and move forward with their lives. As a father of four children, the oldest soon to start college, Carlos' motivation has never been higher. He recently attained an Advanced CDPE designation. He is looking forward to helping homeowners through short sales and excited about making a positive contribution to the housing crisis facing our nation today.
